Music & Media Ministry

Dr. Lisa Cantrell

Her testimony and personal biography are below.

God has allowed me to serve in some level of music ministry since

I was 11 years old. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 8,

with the primary goal of playing in a church one day. This was the same

time that the Lord saved me. It’s amazing how He always has a plan for us-

no matter how young we are!

I became a pianist of a church when I turned 14 years old. The church experienced a major split and there was no one else who could play any instrument, so God had me there prepared and ready. It was a great training ground for me and I loved every minute of it!

From there, I have served in many music ministries at various churches. I have accompanied groups, youth groups, ensembles, children choirs, Christmas and Easter cantatas, and choirs. I have sang in duets, trios, choirs—wherever the Lord needed my music, I have and will always be willing to serve. What better way to glorify Him!

To say that I love every aspect of church music is an understatement. I enjoy the preparation, rehearsals, and seeing the blessings of how God allows us to worship through music. Praying for the right song selection is priority for me. It’s my heart’s desire that every song I play, select, and/or sing honors God. It’s all about Him. Everything we do is for Him.

I’m excited to serve at CRBC. I thought I was just going to play the piano but God had a lot more in mind for me. I love working with the youth and Kingdom Kids – getting them involved in the music of our church. Of course, the CRBC Choir and Praise Team have been incredible to work with. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing opportunity- I thank the Lord every day for it.

I am a native of Shelby and my 21 year old daughter resides with me. She is a senior at UNCC (Amen, right?).

My grandmother, parents and siblings all live within 10 miles of each other. We are all very close. Family is important!  I love being a mom! I also love cooking, writing, music, and decorating. I work as an online professor for several universities. I double majored in English and Music- and eventually ended up with a doctorate in education. God has been so good to me.
